Paws Bistro
Kamea’s journey began far from fine dining.
At just nine weeks old, she was orphaned on the streets of Los Angeles after her mother was taken in by Animal Control for not having a license. Alone and vulnerable, Kamea learned early how to survive—searching for food, shelter, and safety in a city that rarely slowed down.
Fate intervened when she slipped unnoticed onto a passenger cruise ship docked in the harbor. By the time she was discovered, the ship was already at sea. Given a choice between confinement or work, Kamea chose to earn her place and was assigned to the galley as a dishwasher.
What began as punishment became purpose.
From the shadows of the kitchen, Kamea observed everything—timing, technique, balance, and flavor. Before long, something extraordinary began to happen. Passengers noticed the food improving. Plates returned spotless. Compliments poured in. The ship gained a reputation not just for its destinations, but for unforgettable meals.
Kamea was soon offered a full-time position as Head Chef.
Over the next several years, she traveled the world, learning from cultures, ports, and kitchens across continents. During a London tour, she was invited to train under one of the world’s most respected culinary masters. Four years of intense refinement followed, eventually leading her to cook in one of the most prestigious kitchens in the world—Buckingham Palace.
Her career reached remarkable heights. Kamea cooked for movie stars, kings, and the President of the United States. She published over 125 cookbooks, sharing her philosophy of food rooted in care and intention. Of all her accomplishments, one of her most cherished moments was preparing a private dinner for Celine Dion—a meal remembered not for extravagance, but for heart.
After seeing the world and reaching the highest tables, Kamea felt called back to something simpler.
A quieter kitchen.
A closer table.
A place built on warmth rather than prestige.
On April 7, 2023, Paws Bistro opened its doors.
Small, welcoming, and deeply personal, Paws Bistro reflects everything Kamea believes food should be—honest, comforting, and made with love. Every dish tells a story. Every guest matters.
